Overview

Why Tampa?
Tampa, Florida is one of the best, most affordable cities to live in on the Gulf Coast. With a residential population of about 400,000, Tampa is the 3rd largest city in Florida, just behind Miami and Jacksonville. Boasting some of the oldest archaeological sites in the southern United States, the Tampa Bay Area has been inhabited for over 2000 years and is one of the first points of contact with European explorers in the 16th century. Tampa has a rich history which is reflected in museums and cultural attractions.

World-Class Attractions
From Tampa’s amazing River Walk to the Tampa Bay History Center, there is always something to do in Tampa, FL. Many flock to Tampa during the summer months to enjoy world-class fishing both in the bay, river, and in the Gulf of Mexico. There are also lots of outdoor adventure companies that offer kayaking, boating, ziplining, paddleboarding, and hundreds of other sports and recreation activities.

Gulf Coast Living
While nestled in the protection of Tampa Bay, Tampa FL. reaps all the benefits of living on the Gulf of Mexico without the serious damaging storms that sometimes plague the other gulf cities. With awesome, year-round, weather and beach access in both the bay and gulf so close, it’s coastal living at its best. And with the warm Gulf winds coming in year-round, the temperature rarely drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit even in the height of winter.

Low Cost of Living and A Great Job Market
Overall, Tampa scored 100.1 on the national cost of living index. To put that into perspective, the national average is a score of 100, with the most expensive city, New York City, scoring 187.2. The job market in Tampa is booming with the top industries being healthcare, finance, supply chain, and technology! Another financial incentive for living in Florida, in general, is that there is no state income tax, which means more of your paycheck stays in your paycheck.

Wonderful Schools, Great for families!
Home to one of the largest school districts in the United States, Tampa has a vibrant public school system that is home to 12 high schools that were included in Newsweek’s list of America’s Best High Schools. The entire school district is one of the best in Florida! According to the 2020 census, most of the residents of Tampa have public school-aged children and it shows in the priorities of the local government’s spending. The public schools are some of the best-funded in the nation.

Lake Info

Lake Tarpon
While many come to the Tampa Bay area for seaside fun, the lakes in the area shouldn’t be overlooked and Lake Tarpon is certainly one of those! The serene lake is great for small motor boating, fishing, and canoeing.

Lake Thonotosassa
The largest natural lake in Hillsborough County with a surface area of over 800 acres. Popular for recreational purposes because of its easy public access.

Tampa Lake
A 27 acre, Private lake located in Unincorporated Pasco County.

Crest Lake Park
A 0.9 mile (2,000-step) route located near Clearwater. With wider sidewalks around the lake and throughout the park.

Lettuce Lake Conservation Park
One of Hillsborough County’s most visited parks. More than half of the property lying in the natural floodplain.
